George W. Bower

George W. Bower, age 82, of Mifflinville, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Berwick on August 17, 1940, he was a son of the late Walter S. and Vida E. (Whitmire) Bower. He graduated from Berwick High School, class of 1959. He had several different jobs but spent the majority of his career working at Bell Telephone based out of Hazleton, as a splicer and lineman until his retirement.

George was an active member of Almedia Bible Church. He was an outdoorsman and loved to go hunting, fishing, and camping. He enjoyed spending his time at Boulder Hill Hunting Cabin with family and friends. George had also been a member of Bloomsburg Skeet Club and coached both youth baseball and football for several years. He and Audrey enjoyed traveling and vacation in both Alaska and Hawaii. He was also an auto enthusiast. Lately, he spent much of his spare time with his family, attending his grandkids sporting events, and antiquing with Audrey. George had a great sense of humor and was always lending a helping hand to others. He will be missed by many.

He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Audrey E. (McMurtrie) Bower; daughters, Lori Spaide (William Titman), Bloomsburg; Vicki Bisset (Robert), Bloomsburg; Jodi Imler (David), Orefield; son, Douglas Bower and (Lori), Danville; grandchildren, Autumn Flick (Ryan); Angela Spaide (Lou Moser); Adam Spaide (Megan); Breanne Hiller (Taylor); Rebekah Olshemski (Stephen); Ethan Imler; Austin Imler; Lukas Bower; Owen Bower; 4 great grandchildren, Jace; Camdyn; Eliza; and Riley. He also leaves behind a brother, Thomas Bower (Carolyn), Nescopeck; sister-in-law, Evelyn Bower; and several nieces and nephews, and an uncle Warren Bower Jr.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Bower.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 3, 2023, at Elan Memorial Park, 5595 Old Berwick Rd, Bloomsburg.
