Donald E. Goff

Donald E. Goff, age 94, of Salem Township passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at his home.

Born in Arcadia, FL on January 11, 1929, he was a son of the late James H. and Janet (Frost) Goff. He graduated from Brewster Technical College, Tampa, FL, and completed a 4-year apprenticeship with the Gold Seal Carpenters Union. He served under maritime in New Orleans, LA during WWII. Don worked as a journeyman carpenter through the union in Philadelphia and worked at Limerick and Susquehanna Power Plants, retiring in 1992. During retirement, he built their home and worked at Lowes until age 83. He also raised Devon cows and chickens on his own farm for many years.

Donald was a member of Berwick Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he served as a Deacon, Elder and Sabbath School teacher. He was an avid outdoorsman and nature lover who loved fishing and hunting in his younger years. Donald obtained his SCUBA certification and volunteered with rescue operations. He enjoyed gardening and gathering wild foods including mushrooms and wild asparagus. He also loved the beach and playing guitar.

He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 75 years, Mary Lou (Crist) Goff; sons, Donald R. Goff, St. Petersburg, FL; John W. Goff and wife Sharon, Riverview, FL; Timothy A. Goff and wife Carolyn, Apopka, FL; daughter, Janet “Melissa” Dennis and husband Gene, Wapwallopen; 8 grandchildren, including Gregory Nicholas Alexander Doskicz; and 5 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a sister, Patricia A. Anderson, Tampa, FL.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, George D. “Buster” Goff; James H. Goff Jr.; sisters, Grace L. Weaver; Disha V. Robertson; and Margaret E. McKewen.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 E. Third Street, Nescopeck with his pastor, Robert Snyder officiating. Family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until the time of service.

Flowers will be provided by family, memorial contributions are suggested to the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1106 Orange St, Berwick or the charity of the donor’s choice.
