Leila D. Dawson

Leila D. Dawson, age 90, of Berwick, formerly Hobbie, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Glen Brook Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Berwick. Born in Nescopeck on June 15, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Harry “Myron” and Getha G. (Whitenight) Miller. She graduated from Nescopeck High School as salutatorian in 1950. She was employed at AC&F and Wise Potato Chips, and was later a secretary at Heller Propane for 20 years. Leila was a former member of St. Peter’s Reformed Church, Hobbie. She enjoyed doing search word puzzles and needle pointing. She will be greatly missed by her daughters, JoAnn Dawson R.N., Florence, AZ; Susan Fernandez and husband Horacio, Hobbie; Kelly Shultz and husband Robert, Berwick; son, Duane Dawson, Alton, MO; grandchildren, Pamela Long; Sara Smith; Jody Lee; Valerie Hatcher; Nikki Roinick; and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Lawrence “Art” A. Dawson Jr. in 2011; grandson, Jarrod Dawson; sisters, Sarah Elsten; Mary Dockey; Beatrice Clark; Ida Maskers; Gertrude Rowlands; Lurline DeMarco; brothers, Maynard Miller, Lee Miller; and Voris Miller. All services will be private at the convenience of the family.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.
