Corey J. Webster

Corey J. Webster, age 69, of Rock Glen was finally free of pain on March 3, 2023. Corey fought a long battle of 15 years with a blood cancer, Polycythemia Vera, which transformed into bone cancer over the last year, worsening his fight. He entered hospice services at home with Maylath Valley Health and then spent 2 days at Mountain City Nursing Home, where he passed away with his loving wife by his side.

He was born on March 21, 1953 to the late Eugene and Betty Webster. He was raised in Rock Glen, met the love of his life, and continued raising his family in the same little country town. He attended Rock Glen Jr High, and then West Hazleton High School, graduating in 1971. Over the years, he was employed at several local factories including, Bloomsburg Carpet, All Steel, and most recently, First Quality Nonwovens. He retired early due to medical issues.

Corey had a love for motorcycles and racing. He enjoyed the years spent with his friends in their little club called “Valley Dirt Diggers”. When he wasn’t riding he could be found hiking the mountains around Rock Glen and spending time at the Rock Glen Falls. Between racing and hiking, he always made time for nightly rides in his orange jeep, cruising around the mountain to check on a young girl in Mountain Grove. That’s were he met his wife, Lori.

He was a member of the American Motorcycle Association, Black Creek Sportsman’s Club, and the NRA.

Corey was a quiet man and was happiest at home watching his 3 sons grow. One of his greatest joys was building a cabin with his family on his mountain land. He loved all kids and they enjoyed playing with him. We always said he was “fun size” for the kids! He loved to “pick and tease” especially trying to drive his wife crazy!

After his children were grown, along came 6 beautiful grandchildren who were his pride and joy. He was also anxiously awaiting the arrival of 2 more to be born in May and July.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 43 years, Lori J. (Hartranft) Webster; sons, Jesse Webster and companion Kelly Myers, Rock Glen; Chad Webster and wife Jessica, Catawissa; Brett Webster and wife Lauren, Waller; treasured grandchildren, Jacey, Carlyn, Colt, Gatlin, Galilee, and Gracelyn. He also leaves behind brothers, Terry Webster and companion Debra Gardy, Rock Glen; Dale Webster, Rock Glen; sister, Kim Kelchner, Fern Glen; sister-in-law, Patty Brosious and husband John, Mifflinville; brother-in-law, Randy Hartranft and wife Debbie, Beaver Valley; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his I-month old daughter, Krista Lei Webster; and in-laws, Marlene and William Hartranft.A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at New Beginnings Trinity UCC, 1288 Mountain Street, Rock Glen. Family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until the time of service. Burial in Mountain Grove Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to his wife to help with his funeral expenses.
