Eleanor P. Broyan, age 87, of Nescopeck, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Hazleton on March 17, 1936, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Mary J. (Rusnock) Urban. She attended Black Creek Township High School. She worked at Ames Department Store, and later, for Ed Golomb at Andreas Greenhouses. Her last place of employment was at Consolidated Cigar where she worked for several years.
Eleanor was a member of Immaculate Conception, St. Mary’s Church, Berwick. She was an avid reader, enjoyed going on vacation to Ocean City, MD, and camping. She was devoted to her family and providing a loving home.
She will be greatly missed by her sons, Jacob A. Broyan, Bloomsburg; David J. Broyan, Nescopeck; Terance W. Broyan, Bloomsburg; daughter, Yvonne M. Hoch, Nescopeck; grandchildren, Jason Hoch; Christine (Hoch) Snyder; Jacob Broyan and wife Carol, Berwick; Jeremy J. Broyan, Berwick; Bryce A. Broyan and wife Andrea, FL; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Jacob F. Broyan, on December 1, 2020; brothers, Edward, Alex, and John Urban; and sister, Josephine Crossley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 28, 2023, at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church, 1730 Fowler Ave, Berwick, with Reverend Francis J. Tamburro officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick. A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 PM, at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 E. Third St, Nescopeck.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
