Eleanor F. Yeager

Eleanor F. Yeager, age 77, of Mifflin Township passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023, at home with her loving family by her side.

Born in Bloomsburg on January 17, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Ezra W. and Gladys E. (Jones) Harris. She graduated from Central Columbia High School, class of 1963. Eleanor continued her education at Abbington Memorial Hospital, where she earned her diploma as a registered nurse in 1966. In 1971 she began working at Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital as a registered nurse, where she eventually became the head of education, was a supervisor, and ended her career in the short procedure unit. She was best known as a CPR instructor for the American Heart Association for Columbia County.

Eleanor was a member of Hidlay Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg. She was a lifetime member of Mifflin Township Forest Rangers and past president of Columbia County Heart Association. She was also inducted into Miquon Chapter Daughter’s of the American Colonists, with her daughter and granddaughter. Eleanor was a member of girl scout troop #61 at the age of 15, she traveled with the group to Europe and visited 13 countries. She enjoyed travelling, music, the beach, good books, chocolate, and magazines. 

She will be greatly missed by her husband of 47 years, Dennis A. Yeager; daughter, Carolyn Yohey; son, Daniel Yeager and wife Amy, Bloomsburg; 2 grandchildren, Kaitlyn Taylor Yohey; Max Aaron Yeager. She also leaves behind sister, Susan Lupini and husband Robert, Ohio; and many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews, friends, neighbors, and coworkers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son-in-law, Bobby Yohey in 2021; and brother, Robert W. Harris and wife Janice.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Hidlay Evangelical Lutheran Church, 179 Hidlay Church Rd, Bloomsburg. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
