Are you heading home after this next beer? Don’t go! Have another one, and listen to Michael E. Yantorn Sr. (who passed into the great hereafter on July 5th, 2023 at 7:49am) ruthlessly poke fun at the bartender, the person in the stool next to him, or anyone who dares to wear a Dallas Cowboys hat. All done in the name of a laugh, and with a devilish smile on his face. Are the jokes a little too harsh? Then maybe you could wait for him to start to complain. His favorite topics of criticism were; the sewer bill, his kids, politicians, the Phillies bullpen, smartphones, or his beloved riding mower that has been burning oil for as long as I can remember.
Michael Edward Yantorn Sr. was born July 27th, 1960, the son of Sylvia and Frank Yantorn. He was the third of four sons, and he is survived by his brothers Frank, Matthew, and Richard. His early years were spent as a military brat moving from place to place, Florida, Texas, England, North Dakota, and finally Berwick Pennsylvania. Mike is also survived by his four children, Jason, Michael Jr., Kara, Dominic, his son-in-law Thomas, daughter-in-law Stella, and 5 grandchildren.
Mike spent years employed as a roofer and water-proofer for C&D. In his free time Mike enjoyed having a beer with his friends, calling his mother Silvia in New Mexico, fishing, his tomato garden, sitting on his back porch stoop listening to a ball game, and spending time with his family. He could be described as smart, irritating, witty, infuriating, hilarious, generous, grumpy, and fun. Mike had many labels over his life, son, brother, pappy, eagle scout, husband, ex-husband, ball-buster, jokester, and friend. But for us most importantly he was our dad, and he was dang good at it. He will be missed.
A public celebration of life will be held at American Ukrainian Citizens Club in Berwick on July 29th at 4pm.
