Joseph F. Pecorelli, age 89, of Berwick passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023, at the Gardens at Orangeville, surrounded by his family.
Born in Conyngham on May 23, 1934, he was the son of the late Ettore and Eroteide (Necolleti) Pecorelli. He graduated from Shickshinny High School and earned a Bachelor of Teaching Degree from Bloomsburg Teachers College. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958. After an honorable discharge, he taught school for some time before becoming an entrepreneur, opening several pizza shops in the area. Prior to retiring, he was employed at Berwick Industries.
In his younger years, Joe liked hunting and fishing, more recently, he spent his time woodworking and painting. If you knew Joe, then you probably know he had a wonderful voice and would sing to everyone he met. He mostly enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. He was a good husband and great father.
In 1962, Joe married Barbara A (May) Pecorelli. They spent 51 years together before her passing in 2013. He is also preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Pecorelli, in 2014, and sisters, Mary Gottsch and husband Dwayne; Bridget Matikiewicz and husband Jack; and brother-in-law, Bill Weaver.
He will be greatly missed by his children, Joseph Pecorelli Jr, Shickshinny; Barbara Embree and husband Kelley, Berwick; Daniel Pecorelli and wife Dr. Renee Pecorelli, Berwick; grandchildren, Jesse and Jake Pecorelli; Timothy and Corey O’Dell; and Justin Hill; great grandchildren, Connor O’Dell; Evie Pecorelli; and Jaxon Pecorelli; a sister, Bruna Weaver; and many nieces and nephews.
Joe will be buried with his beloved wife Barbara in St Mary’s Cemetery, Mocanaqua at the convenience of the family.
