Robert “Gary” Johnson, age 77, of Orangeville passed away on Wednesday January 10, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Bloomsburg on August 7, 1946, he was a son of the late Harold and Alda (Drum) Johnson. He attended Nescopeck School. After graduating in 1964, he Enlisted in the US Air Force as an Aircraft Mechanic and he served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in1972. He worked at Central Penn Sewing Machine Company for 40 plus years before retiring.
When Robert wasn’t working, he loved bowling with his league, and with lots of practice and determination he was even able to bowl a 300. He enjoyed golfing with his buddies and brothers-in-law whenever he got the chance and enjoyed watching the Miami Dolphins during football season.
Gary was a former member of Wesley Methodist church in Nescopeck. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Nescopeck, and the Bloomsburg Legion.
He will be greatly missed by Sharon Carey with whom he spent the last 34 years; daughter, Virginia Collins and husband Scott, Berwick; stepdaughter, Justine “Dusty” Robbins and husband James, Bloomsburg; stepson, Jack Roadarmel Jr and wife Darlene, Danville; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Darla K. Dunn and husband Tony, California; nieces and nephews; and cousins. He also leaves behind Kristi Roadarmel who was like a daughter to him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Ronald G. Johnson, and brother Dayne Johnson.
Family will receive friends on Monday January 15, 2024, at 1:00 pm, followed by Military Honors at 2:00 pm at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 E. Third Street, Nescopeck. Celebration of life will be held afterward at the Nescopeck VFW Post 8227.
