Donald “Don” Kunis, age 70, of Hollenback Twp passed away January 30, 2024, at his home with his friend at his side.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on November 28, 1953, he was the son of the late Peter and Julian (Sura) Kunis. He was a 1971 graduate from J.F.K. Sr Highschool and furthered his education by earning his Certificate in Instruction Municipal Police on November 20, 1981. He worked as a police officer in Wilkes-Barre Township for a few years. Later, he was employed at Fabri-Kal Corporation, Mountain Top, working as a Maintenance Mechanic until retiring in 2019.
In his free time, he loved working on cars, and racing in Drag Races. He won several races, Don also raced in Beaver Springs Dragway, 2017 and Mid Atlantic Street Outlaw where he placed 1st. He enjoyed going to Cruise Night Car Shows, and occasionally riding his 1975 Harley that he purchased new. Enjoyed country music and spending time with his friends at the events he attended. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion, Post 781, Mountain Top.
He often said he didn’t want his friends to be upset when he passed away, but he wanted everyone to remember him and enjoy his life. He will be greatly missed by his close friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Peter Kunis Jr.
A Celebration of Life will be planned in honor of Don Kunis at a later date.
