Robert H. Wenner, age 85, of Nescopeck Township passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at his home.
Born in Berwick on March 13, 1939, he was a son of the late Harold G. and Grace L. (Heckman) Wenner. He attended Shickshinny High School, and at a young age started working as a paper carrier in the Pond Hill and Lily Lake area. After earning his CDL, he began a career in truck driving, working for Barletta’s, then Brystol Myers, and later for his father hauling steel and Luzerne Hide and Tallow which later became Corenco. Robert later purchased his own trucks and retired as an independent truck driver in 2011 after 53 years of driving.
He was a former member of Mt Zion Lutheran Church, Briggsville. He enjoyed working on his trucks, and in his earlier years, riding his Harley Davidsons. He liked hunting, fishing, and going out to eat. He loved watching western movies and taking trips to the mid-western states, especially Wyoming. He enjoyed spending time with his nephew Alex, whom he thought of as a son. They would often go out for breakfast, and Alex also helped Bob with many of his projects.
He will be greatly missed by his daughter and best friend, Renee Davis and husband Richard, Nescopeck; step granddaughter, Christina Gillespie and husband Brad; and step great granddaughter, Eloise Gillespie. He also leaves behind a sister Donna Roinick and Tommy, Nescopeck Twp; nephews, Alex Paluch; Brian Slusser; and nieces, Brenda Slusser and Beverly Chapin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Wenner; and sisters, Mildred Slusser and Bonnie Monroe.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 E Third St, Nescopeck. Interment will follow in Mt Zion Cemetery, Briggsville. Family will receive friends from 10:00am until the time of service.
