John C. “Petey” Peterson, age 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Berwick on December 10, 1946, he was the son of the late Charles R. and Marian K. (Fetterman) Peterson. He was a graduate of Berwick High School, class of 1964. He was a groundskeeper for Briar Creek Lake Park for 12 years before retiring.
John was a life member of Eagle Hose Fire Company. He was a fisherman, and loved being secluded in the woods, living in his cabin and feeding all the animals that came around his property. He enjoyed having a beer while catching up with his buddies and always enjoyed a good nonfiction book. John loved Nascar and went to all the races he could with his good buddy Richard.
He will be greatly missed by his loving friend always, Joselle (Josie) Kinney; grandchildren, Maegan Shutta and husband Michael, FL; Myles Fishel and companion Belinda, TN; great grandchildren, Landyn Shutta and Mason Shutta, FL; brothers, Daniel Peterson, Berwick; David Peterson and wife Mary, Carlise; several nieces; and numerous loving cousins, including Kenny. He is also survived by his daughter Michelle Peterson Fishel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Peterson Sager.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of donor’s choice.
At John’s request there will be no services. Heller Funeral Home LLC, Nescopeck is assisting his family.
