Carlton L. Gensel, Sr, age 70, of Berwick passed away unexpectedly in Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital.
Born in Berwick on May 14, 1954, he was a son of the late Lauren and Esther (Bilby) Gensel. He was a graduate of Northwest Area High School, class of 1972. After graduating, Carlton entered the U.S. Army where he served honorably for seven years. For many years, Carlton worked at Berwick Industries, most recently, he was employed at Cheetah Chassis Corporation, Berwick until retiring about 3 years ago.
Carlton enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Elizabeth A. (Scheno) Gensel, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage this past April; son, Carlton L. Gensel, Jr; daughters, Jennifer Gordner and husband Bill, Berwick; Nickie Ann Wilson, Bloomsburg; grandchildren, Elizabeth Gensel; Steven and Jessica Bacon; and Brianna and Alyssa Wilson. He also leaves behind a sister, Kimberly Gensel, Nanticoke; sister-in-law, Sharon Gensel, Shickshinny; and nephews, Justin and Jonathan Gensel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Gensel; sisters, Esther Gregory and Ruth Krzywicki; and a niece.
At Carlton’s request, there will be no public service.
