Alexander James Anthony, age 3, gained his wings on September 12, 2024, at Boston Children’s Hospital, Massachusetts.
He was born in Berwick on June 4, 2021, to Jeffrey R. Anthony and Desiree D. Johnson of Berwick.
Alexander was a warrior. He was born with Hyperplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), and he fought like a soldier to overcome the many obstacles associated with his diagnosis. Despite everything he faced, he was a happy little guy with an optimistic outlook. Getting water on a sponge or washcloth from his grandpa made him happy and got him to say his first word. Playing on his tablet was his favorite activity, especially watching Cocomelon. His favorite episode was the one with the big spider, that always cheered him up and made him smile. He also liked playing on his drum and with his rattles. In his short life, he made a huge impact and brought joy to everyone who interacted with him, especially all the nurses and doctors in the PICU at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville and the CICU in Boston Children’s Hospital.
In addition to his parents, he will be greatly missed by his brothers, Jude B. Anthony and Bentley R. Anthony, at home; maternal grandparents, Wendy Jackson and husband Charles; paternal grandmother, Shelly Reinhardt; great gram, Peggy Anthony; uncles, David Jackson; Ryan Johnson; Christopher Johnson; Joey Anthony; and Eric Anthony; aunt, Cherese Kile; great aunts, Penni Kalie and Tammi Longenberger; and cousins, Kiersten, McKenzie, Wesley, Braxton and Paisley.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Ronald Johnson who passed away in 2017, and Jeffrey Anthony who passed away in 2010.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday September 24, 2024, at Heller Funeral Home LLC, 633 E. Third Street, Nescopeck, immediately followed by a funeral service with Pastor Bob Hess officiating.
Memorial contributions are suggested to his family to help with his final expenses.
