Carolyn A. Gensel, age 89, of Shickshinny passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Celebration Villa where she was a guest for the past six months.
Born in Shickshinny on April 4, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Helen E (Doletski) Rupinski. She graduated from Berwick High School. Over the years, she worked at several local factories and retired from Berwick Industries.
Caroline attended mass at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Mary’s in Mocanaqua. Her hobbies included needlepoint and crocheting. She liked going to thrift stores and yard sales. She was an avid TV football fan, who rooted for the Dallas Cowboys. When walking into her house, you would always hear polkas and country music playing. Carol adored every single dog she had the pleasure to meet.
She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Barbara Wildoner and husband Edward, Salem Twp; Donna Beggs and husband Hugh, Newport Twp; Julie Mickiewicz, Esq, New York; granddaughters, Holly Olejnik, Dr. Jerica Gee, Danielle Evans, Valerie Mickiewicz, Autumn Beggs; great grandsons, Owen, Aiden, and Luke. She also leaves behind a sister, Irene Rupinski, Berwick; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Donald Gensel, who preceded Caroline in death on January 27, 2019; sisters, Helen, Josephine, and Frances; and brothers, Francis, Stanley, and Joseph.
At Carol’s request, there will be no public services. Heller Funeral Home, LLC, Nescopeck is entrusted with arrangements.
