Mary Ellen Farrell, age 88, of Briar Creek, passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at her home.
Born in Evansville on August 21, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Doyle J. and Mary R. (Adams) Keck. She was a graduate of Berwick High School, class of 1954. After graduation, she was employed at Bell Telephone in Philadelphia.
In 1957, she married William B. Farrell. Together they lived in several northeastern states while he was active in the military, eventually settling back in the Berwick Area. They were married for 57 years before his passing in August of 2014. During their marriage, Mary Ellen worked as a teller at several banks, including Ashtabula National Bank, OH, Central Trust, NY, North American Rockwell, OH and Franklin First Federal, which became M&T, Berwick prior to retiring.
She was a member of Cornerstone Bible Church in Nescopeck Twp. She enjoyed reading, her favorite books were hallmark, but most of all she liked reading the Bible. Mary Ellen liked visiting with friends and remembering people’s special days by sending cards.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Grace Longenberger and husband Warren “Dick”; and several aunts and uncles.
She will be greatly missed by her son, James Farrell and companion Tracey Whitenight, Berwick; grandchildren, Daniel Farrell; and Rachel (Farrell) Miknich and husband Austin; Stephany Albrecht and husband Jack; Krystal Whitenight and husband Dayton Broyan; and great grandsons, Carter Oilar and Bruin Miknich. She also leaves behind brothers, Dale Keck and wife Sandy, Florida; Ray Keck, Sr and wife Sandra, Lime Ridge; aunt, Maude Yeager; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 5:00pm on Friday, January 3, 2024, at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 E Third St, Nescopeck with pastor, James Winder officiating. Family will receive friends from 3:00pm until time of service.
At Mary Ellen’s request, interment next to her husband in Briar Creek Cemetery will be private.
