Charles “Butch” Barnes, age 77, of Mifflinville, PA, passed away January 17, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA.
Butch was born on February 8,1947; he was one of four sons born to the late Livingston and Leila (Spaid) Barnes of Mifflinville. Butch graduated from Central Columbia High School in 1965 and served in the Army National Guard of Pennsylvania.
After his retirement from Merck, he renovated kitchens, bathrooms and many other small jobs he was called to do. Butch always “had a tool for that”. He loved to laugh and crack jokes, as well as camping and having dinners with friends. He attended St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mifflinville. He was always devoted to his wife and daughters.
Butch is survived by his wife of 57 years, Diane (Linn) Barnes formerly of Catawissa, as well as his daughters, Jennifer (Barnes) Krainski and her husband Brian Krainski, Bloomsburg; Julie (Barnes) Shum and her husband Millard Shum of Locust Grove, Va; brothers, Franklin Barnes of Berwick; and Richard Barnes of Mifflinville; several nieces and nephews; and we couldn’t forget his favorite companion, his dog Toby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Victor Barnes.
