Matthew J. Turowski, Jr., age 79, of Nescopeck Township passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at his home with his dog Spiffy by his side.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on June 12, 1945, he was the son of the late Josephine S. (Sokoloski) and Matthew J. Turowski, Sr. After graduating high school, he furthered his education at Wilkes College for 2 years. He was drafted into the U. S. Army and served as a First Lieutenant, with the HHC 11th Infantry Battalion from 1967 to 1968 during the Vietnam War. After an honorable discharge, he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, graduating from Wilkes College, class of 1971. For many years he worked at Nestle Food Company and later, Bankers Life and Casualty. He worked for Independence Toyota until he retired.
Matthew was a member of Berwick, Nescopeck and Conyngham VFW. He participated in the YMCA Silver Sneakers. He enjoyed relaxing and socializing with friends. He never went anywhere without his loyal companion Spiffy. In his younger years he liked to be outdoors, hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mildred A. (Wisneski) Turowski, and his brother, Richard Turowski.
He will be greatly missed by his son, Matthew Turowski and wife Beth, Nescopeck; grandchildren, Courtney and Brendan Turowski; sisters, Linda Attardo and husband Charles, Clearwater, Fl; Josette Anthony and husband George, Mountain Top; and Judith Roccograndi, Harveys Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews.
At Matthews request there will be no public services. Heller Funeral Home LLC, Nescopeck is assisting his family.
