We are deeply saddened to announce that Linda Fay Mabie, age 78, passed away on March 4, 2025, in Wilkes-Barre, PA. She was born on October 20, 1946, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to the late Wilbert T. Messler and Mary Madeline Messler.
Linda will be fondly remembered as a dedicated Christian with 38+ years of continuous sobriety. Her successful recovery from addiction is accredited to her spirituality, working a 12-step program, and her service work for other people in recovery. She was a devoted member of Nebo Baptist Church in Nanticoke, PA, where her faith was a guiding light in her journey through life.
Throughout her distinguished life, Linda attained various achievements and pursued her passions with unwavering dedication. She studied at Middlesex College in Edison, NJ, and graduated with an associate’s degree in Radiology Technology. Her time as a Radiology Technologist at East Orange General Hospital showed her commitment to providing care and compassion to others.
Linda had a fulfilling career and made significant contributions to her community. She worked as a bus driver at Luzerne County HeadStart, making a positive impact on the lives of children. Additionally, she also studied at Luzerne County Community College and honed her artistic skills, becoming a professional artist. Her creativity and talent served as a testament to her artistic spirit.
Linda leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by her surviving family members. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her daughter, Liz Hricko, Hillsborough, NJ; son, Thomas Leonard, New Bedford, MA; daughter, Leslie Hess, Mifflinville, PA; son, Adam Mabie of York, PA; seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren that she absolutely adored. She also leaves behind her sister, Caroline Cassidy of Avenel, NJ; two nieces, and three nephews, including goddaughter Mary Cassidy, Avenel, NJ.
Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on March 15, 2025, at Heller Funeral Home LLC, 633 E 3rd St, Nescopeck, PA.
