Ruth (Fowler) Mackert, age 83, of Berwick passed away on April 1, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Berwick on April 10, 1941, she was one of 17 children born to the late Leroy and Clara (Housel) Fowler, and she attended Berwick Schools. Over the years, she worked at Consolidated Cigar and several sewing factories. Later she was employed at Berwick Offray for over 20 years before retiring.
Ruth enjoyed planting flowers and tending to her flower gardens. She liked performing the tasks needed to up-keep her house, especially painting, and she loved to dance.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Kelly Crouse and husband Robert, Berwick; Troy Makert and companion Cheryl Tolan, Berwick; Cybil Fish and husband Rodney, Orangeville; Gary Mackert Jr and wife Terri, Muncy; grandchildren, Rob, Troy Jr, Kenneth, Samantha, Krystan, Sabrina, Brandon and Tommy; great grandchildren, Adriana, Aaliah, Ava, Ryker, Camden, Kinsley, and Paisley. She also leaves behind sisters, Charlotte Lipsey, Holly Young and husband Russel; Gertrude Kinney and husband John; brothers, Jerry Fowler and wife Cookie; Leroy Fowler Jr; Dave Fowler and wife Wendy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin daughters, Christina Marie and Kay Louise Mackert; sister, Barb and brothers, Charles, Gilbert, Sheldon, Art, Bob, Jay, Norman, and twin boys at birth.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 E Third St, Nescopeck. Interment will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
