On April 6, 2025, God reached across and held the hand of Angeline Martin to guide her to her new life where her husband, Andrew Martin, daughter, Andrea Martin Korngold and her parents and many brothers and sisters are waiting to greet her.
Angeline “Angie” and Andrew “Andy” had five children: Mary Louise Martin, Henderson, NV; John Martin and wife Rose, Chattanooga, TN; Andrea Martin Korngold, deceased; conjoined twins who passed at birth.
Angeline celebrated her anniversary on the same day as her birthday. She missed her 103 birthday and her 78th anniversary by two days.
Angie was an award-winning cosmetologist both as a stylist and colorist. She won many local and state awards for her expertise in these areas. Her shop was located on Market Street in Berwick for over 40 years.
After retirement, she and Andy took many trips to California to spend time with Mary Louise and her late husband Henry Hurley. After Andy passed, she continued her travels to Nevada where she played the penny machines and bingo. Angie also loved to cook and fed anyone who stopped by regardless of their response to her.
One trip to Berwick by Mary Louise’s brother-in-law; Edward tells this story. One night after dinner my mother asked him if he wanted a piece of chocolate cake, he said no but two minutes later Angie came out of the kitchen with the cake. Anyone who knows my mother could share a similar story. She was determined that a visit to her house required a drink and food.
Angeline was known for an unusual sense of humor and feistiness. Henry often told her he would record her sayings because the comments were so funny.
Angeline is survived by a sister, Louise “Honey” Krolikowski and a grandson, Jonathan Gold, with whom she shared a special relationship.
The family is forever grateful for the care givers who took care of her the last couple of years in her home– Fran, Dorian, Puta, Tanya, Stephanie and especially Lydia who provided expert, dedicated care and guidance to Angie and the family. If there ever was a person who deserves a special place in heaven it is Lydia.
The family struggled to find an agency that could provide daily care until we found Independent Home Health Care. This company deserves five stars for their expertise, professional and committed service. We recommend this company without hesitation.
In addition, a special thank you to Sharon, her case manager at UPMC, for her continued, timely service to Angie and her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at Saint Mary’s Church, Berwick, 1730 Fowler Ave, Berwick on April 16, at 10:00am followed by a Celebration of Life luncheon at the Taste of Italy.
