John P. Timbrell

John P. Timbrell, age 81, of Berwick passed away Thursday April 17, 2025, at Maple Ridge Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Kingston.

Born in Berwick on February 19, 1944, he was the son of the late James and Ruth (Hampton) Timbrell. He was a graduate of Berwick Area High School, class of 1962. He furthered his education by earning his bachelor’s degree in psychology at Penn State University. John served in the US Army from 1967 to 1969, where he was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for heroism during ground combat in the Republic of Vietnam. After an honorable discharge, he was employed at Danville State Hospital. Most of his years, he worked as a licensed surveyor for the state of Pennsylvania.

John was a member of the Nescopeck VFW Post 8227 and the Rangers Fire Hall, Berwick. He enjoyed watching C-Span and followed politics. He liked classical music and was a Berwick Bulldog Fan.  He loved the many cats he’s had over the years, especially “Peppa” and “Pinball Wiz” who were always by his side.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of nearly 35 years, Jennifer A. (Kline) Timbrell; sons, John P. Timbrell and wife Christy, Newport; Thomas L. Timbrell, Danville; daughter, Kana Kasow and husband Steven, Queens, NY; stepdaughters, Amanda Schoch and husband Jerry, Lattimer Mines; and Billee Kvedrowicz and partner Shane Jaynes, Berwick; grandson, Emmanuel Thompson. He also leaves behind brother, James Timbrell, Berwick; sister, Bernice Glad, Toledo, OH; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Timbrell Kalbach.

Military services and burial are being planned for a later date in Arlington Cemetery, Virginia.  Heller Funeral Home LLC, Nescopeck is assisting his family.
