Denise A. Johnson

Denise A. (Yurcho) Johnson, age 63, of Nuremberg passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at her home. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Hazleton on November 4, 1961, she was the youngest of 10 children born to the late Joseph and Amelia (Houser) Yurcho Jr. She graduated from West Hazleton High School in 1979. She was a devoted wife and mother who dedicated her time to providing a loving home for her family.

Denise’s greatest joy in life was spending time surrounded by her family. Especially her granddaughter Ally, who was the center of her world. They spent countless hours together baking, playing games, swimming, and always laughing. Denise had an infectious laugh that was memorable to all who knew her. She enjoyed dinner and ice cream dates with her husband and shopping at flea markets on the weekends together. Family dinner and watching Grey’s Anatomy weekly was a tradition she treasured with her daughters. Her days were always brightened by visits from her grand dogs.

Denise loved playing bingo and taking casino trips with her siblings. She adored spending time with her nieces and nephews. Denise also loved shopping and chatting daily with her sister-in-law. She had the most generous heart and received so much joy in giving to others. She could always be found spending time in the kitchen cooking a delicious meal or baking one of her famous desserts to share. Every holiday and birthday were made more magical because of her. The gifts she shared, and traditions made will be carried on through her loved ones. She will be missed every single day.

She will be greatly missed by her husband of 39 years, Timothy P. Johnson; daughters, Jessica Demshock and husband Craig, Weston; Kelli Johnson and significant other Christopher Cole, Weston; granddaughter, Ally Richards; sisters, Joanne Brior, Florida; Patricia Gudich, Nuremberg, Bonita Supon, Sugarloaf; Debra Diehl and husband Blake, Nescopeck; Kendra Mummey and husband Dennis, Zion Grove; brothers, Robert Yurcho and wife Virginia, Oneida; James Yurcho and husband Ron Snyder, Jim Thorpe; sister-in-law, Rosemarie Fisher, Nescopeck; and numerous nieces and nephews.
