It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Elizabeth Martz. She passed away on Tuesday, July 8th, 2025, surrounded by the compassionate care of the staff at Glen Brook Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Berwick.

Throughout her 95 years, Mary exemplified strength, love, and selflessness as a devoted woman of God. She wholeheartedly served Jesus and embraced her roles as a mother, grandmother, and genuine friend.

Born in Strawberry Ridge on November 6th, 1929, Mary was renowned for sharing the word and love of God in all her endeavors. A dedicated employee at Bloomsburg Mills, she also volunteered her time with various charitable organizations and was always going above and beyond to care for her friends and animals with genuine affection.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Mary Kathleen Barnes; son-in-law, Randal Barnes; two grandchildren, Sherry and Kimberly Barnes; and her great-grandchild Gemmalee.

She was preceded in death by a lifelong friend, Judd Allen; her former spouse, Sam Benson Martz; parents, Reamer and Ethel Polk; and siblings, Jesse, Edward, Leona, Dorothy, James, and Clayton Polk.

In accordance with Mary’s wishes burial will be a private ceremony at Creveling Cemetery, Bloomsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Women’s Center Inc, located at 111 Market St, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
