Renna M. George, age 92, of Berwick passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Forest Hills Rehab and Healthcare Center, Weatherly, surrounded by her family.
Born in Berwick on May 14, 1933, she was one of 7 children born to the late Frederick B. and Harriet E. (Keller) Paden. She was raised and educated in Berwick. For several years, she worked and catered at the Hotel McGee, later, she and her mother co-owned the Bluebird Diner in Berwick during the 1960’s and ‘70’s.
Renna was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Berwick. She enjoyed going to water aerobics at the YMCA, meeting friends for breakfast at the White Horse Café, going shopping and traveling. She was an excellent cook and baked delicious pies. She loved caring for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was one of the “Golden Girls” at Forest Hills where she resided since 2021, and she was loved and well cared for during her time there.
She will be greatly missed by her loving daughter, Michele Burke and companion Todd Smith, Bloomsburg; son-in-law, Andrew Barnes; cherished grandchildren, Jessica Burke and companion Ronald Miller; Jennifer Burke and companion Shane Kitzmiller; AJ Barnes; adored great grandchildren, Ronald Miller; Myla Mae Kitzmiller; and Gavin Barnes. She also leaves behind brothers, Howard L. Paden and wife Mae, Berwick; Frederick R. Paden and wife Clara, Berwick; Wade B. Paden and wife Donna, Stillwater; John W. Paden, Danville; sisters, Eleanor Carl, Bloomsburg; Sally Mensinger, Berwick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 40 years, Russell A. George, Jr who died in 1994; daughter, Sharon Barnes; and brother-in-law, Freeman Carl.
Renna will be buried next to her husband in Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick at the convenience of her family.
