David C. Champ, age 78, of Mifflinville passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025, with his family by his side.
Born in Syracuse, NY on January 29, 1947, he was a son of the late Charles W. and Jane H. (Shutts) Champ. He was a graduate of Berwick Senior High School. In his younger years, David worked at US Steel, later he was employed as the parks and recreation supervisor for Columbia County for 38 years.
Outside of work, David’s focused on his family, especially his sons and grandchildren. He was a coach for all youth sports and involved with scouts. He also played and coached softball with the Susquehanna fast pitch league. He enjoyed fly fishing and riding his motorcycle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, his beloved wife of 44 years, Diane S. (Stout) Champ, on October 30, 2011; and brother-in-law, Leo Zagata.
He leaves behind his sons, David Champ, Berwick; Mark Champ and wife Kristy, Lancaster; Jeremy Champ and wife Laura, Nescopeck; grandchildren, Kyle Champ, Ty Champ, Matthew Champ, and Mia Champ. He will also be missed by his sister, Sharon Zagata, Shickshinny; brother, Paul Champ and wife Donna, Lenoir City, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held in Mifflinville Cemetery at the convenience of his family.
