Harriet Louise Rupert, 74, of Berwick passed away on Saturday at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville after falling ill earlier in the week.
Born in Berwick on August 31, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Water and Grace Smith of Fowlersville. She was a 1959 graduate of Central Columbia High School and later went on to careers at Milco Manufacturing, the Buckhorn Truck Stop, and recently retired from Thompson Mailing Corporation.
Harriet was a member of the Fowlersville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed putting together puzzles, spending time with and cooking for her family. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her five children: Cathy Cope and husband Randy, Mifflinville; Stephanie Superko and companion Fred Sharrow, Lime Ridge; Leslie “Skip” Rupert and wife Laurel, Glen Rock, PA; Carla Hess and husband Steve, Fowlersville; and Walt Rupert and companion Dr. Amy Snover, Danville. She was “Grammy” to 13 cherished grandchildren ranging in age from 18-35, and “Grammy Great” to five adored great-grandchildren, ranging from 3-19 years old. She is also survived by one brother, Donald Smith and wife Peg, Berwick.
She was preceded in death by a brother, SrA. Cletus Smith, who resided in Fowlersville prior to enlisting in the Air Force.
A service to celebrate Harriet’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Lime Ridge United Methodist Church, 6405 4th Street, Lime Ridge with Reverend Edward Cope officiating. Interment will follow in Elan Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
