Robert L. “Scooter” Slusser, Jr., 53, of North Center Township, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at his home.
Born in Berwick on March 20, 1962, he was the son of Marlene E. (Hahn) Fowler of Berwick, and the late Robert L. Slusser, Sr. He was a graduate of Berwick High School, class of 1980, and attended Duquesne University. He was employed at several area businesses including, Tuzzi’s Bakery in Berwick, R. R. Donnelly, Bloomsburg, and most recently he was employed at Wise Snack Foods, Berwick.
Scooter was a life member of Eagle Hose Company, Berwick. He was an avid “Steelers” football fan, rooted for the “Mets” baseball team, and liked his computer and gardening, especially with his loyal companion “Bailey” at his side. He also enjoyed going to Morris’s Family Restaurant, mostly to visit with the staff and give the waitresses a hard time.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of nearly 24 years, JoAnn T. (Futoma) Slusser, sisters; Vallerie Fowler and fiancé Ronald Dymond, Berwick; Kay Harner and husband Stephen, Berwick; Jennifer Fowler and companion Tommie Splain, CT; brother, Jay Fowler, Jr and companion Linda Swidinsky, Berwick; and 10 nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind several in-laws including, Joseph and Anna Futoma, and Julie and James Smith, all of Berwick; many cousins, aunts and uncles.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step father, Jay L. Fowler, Sr.
At Scooters request, there will be no viewing or funeral service. A private memorial service will be held at the family’s convenience.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in his name to JDRF, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004, to support Juvenile Diabetes Research, a disease that he battled his entire life.
