Russel K. “Jack” Manning Jr., 89, of Nescopeck passed away early Tuesday morning, April 19, 2016 at Berwick Retirement Village.
Born in Berwick on March 18, 1927, he was the son of the late Dora Zanetta (Mausteller) and Russel K. Manning Sr. He attended Berwick Schools and served in the US Army during WWII. After an honorable discharge, he worked at Argo in Berwick. When the company was acquired by IAC Spartanburg, he moved to South Carolina. After retirement, he moved back home to be closer his family.
Russel was member of the former Albright United Methodist Church, Nescopeck. He enjoyed wood working, camping and riding his motorcycle. Family was very important to him and he delighted in any time he could spend with them.
He will be greatly missed by his son, Terrance Manning and wife Gail, Berwick; daughters, Pamela Slusser and husband Adrian, Bloomsburg; Beverly Felt and husband David, SC; Trudy Shultz and husband Rex, Berwick; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great granddaughter. He is also survived by a brother, Ralph Manning and wife Ruth, Nescopeck; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ellen Jane (Husted) Manning in 2011; infant daughter, Brenda; sisters, Stella Puher and Betty Lechleitner; and brothers, Herbert Manning and David Manning.
