Robert M. Turek

Robert M. Turek, 70, of Berwick passed away suddenly on January 22, 2017 at his residence.

Born in Newark, NJ on August 26, 1946, he was the son of the late Harry and Mary (Baron) Turek. Bob graduated from Berwick High School in 1964 and went on to serve his country for 4 years in the United States Navy, on the U.S.S. Camberra. He received several medals including the National Defense Service Medal, Viet Nam Campaign Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal, Combat Action Medal and the Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon. He was a dedicated employee at Berwick Offray for 47 years.

In his younger years, Bob was an avid body builder. Just ask him a question about nutrition or body building and he would have the answer. He also enjoyed playing darts, golfing, going hunting and watching football. He was a loyal fan of the Berwick Bulldogs. He was a member of the Berwick VFW #821 and the American Ukrainian Club. He was a loving, caring person and showed it by taking care of his mother for five years after she went to live at a nursing home. He rarely missed a day of visitation with her.

Bob is survived by his wife of 27 years, Vicki (Mattucci) Turek, sister Karen Fedder, wife of Ted; brother Harry J. Turek, husband of Annetta; Sister-in-Law, Carla Scala, wife of Tony; niece, Lisa Scala; nephews, Anthony Scala; Ted Fedder III, husband of Samantha; Todd Turek, husband of Kerry; great nieces, Mackenzie Marie and Peyton; great nephew Luke and his furry friend, Murphy.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 26, 2017 in Pine Grove Cemetery, Walnut Street, Berwick.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be sent to Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck to help defray funeral expenses.
