Evelyn Marie (Frey) Davis, 95, of Bloomsburg passed away at the Gardens at Orangeville, where she was a patient for the past week.
Born in Scotch Valley on September 8, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Grover C. and Cora (McAffee) Frey. She was raised and educated in Beaver Township, and worked at Milco Industries, Bloomsburg, for over 40 years before retiring.
Evelyn was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, both indoors and outside. She liked sewing, and baking, and was known for making “the best” raisin filled cookies. She also liked reading, in her younger years she read many books, and most recently she would keep up with current events by reading the newspaper, with her loyal Chihuahua, “Chippy” by her side.
She will be greatly missed by her son, Michael Rachkiss and wife Dorothy, Salem, NJ; grandchildren, Patricia Rachkiss, Lynn Rachkiss and husband Shawn Carter, Suzanne Rachkiss-Huehn and husband Robert, and Scott Rachkiss; great grandson, Michael Bleakly; sister, Thelma Rubenstein and husband Charles, Lightstreet; several nieces and nephews; friends and caregivers including, Earl “Skip” and Cindy Mordan and son Josh.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold E. Davis in 2002; and brothers, Alvin and Robert Frey.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck. Interment will follow in Elan Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
