Joseph G. Samsel, 74, of Hetlerville passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Berwick on February 17, 1943, he was a son of the late Margaret (Metler) and Nelson Samsel, Sr. He attended Berwick schools. For many years he was a truck driver for Dan-Ber Concrete, Danville.
He was a life member of West Berwick Hose Company. He enjoyed sitting outside, driving his Chrysler convertible with the top down, and playing the lottery. He looked forward to eating breakfast at the Uptown Diner with his friends. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy A. (Yohey) Samsel on August 3, 2010; and a sister Evelyn Lynn.
Joseph will be greatly missed by sons, Michael Samsel and wife Pamela of Nescopeck and Jason Samsel and wife Tami of Nanticoke; daughter, Brenda Garrison and husband Hons of Nescopeck; grandchildren, Robert Samsel, Ashlee Garrison and fiancé Justin Deska, Derek Garrison and wife Amber, and Ryan and Jamie Samsel; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Ava; brothers, Nelson Samsel Jr., Dennis Heimbach and wife Louise, and Gary Heimbach; and sister, Sharon Hill and husband Lee.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck with Pastor Melody Sell officiating. Interment will follow in Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg. Friends may call on Monday, April 10, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
