Irene M. Baker

Irene M. (Harris) Baker, 95, of Orangeville passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Grandview Nursing and Rehab, Danville.

Born in Unityville on September 12, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Dora (Rider) Harris. She attended school in Unityville. Over the years, Irene worked at several Bloomsburg businesses including, GLF Canning Factory, J S Raub Shoe Store, and Western Auto.

Irene was a skillful archer and was a member of the Bloomsburg Archery Club. She was also a member of the Bloomsburg Elks, and a former member of the Frosty Valley Country Club, Danville. She loved shopping, especially at Boscov’s, where she could always find a good bargain.

She will be greatly missed by her 6 children, daughters: Kathryn Drumm, Bloomsburg; Cynthia J. Knorr and husband Zane, Bloomsburg; Vicky Brobst and husband Dave, Ohio; sons: Robert L. Hock and wife Mabel, Danville; George “Edward” Hock and wife Carol, Mifflinville; Richard D. Hock and wife Ann, Bloomsburg; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Hock; and second husband, Ralph Baker. She was the last of 10 children, preceded in death by her brothers, Jimmy, Lee and Harold Harris; Cecil Downs; Ernie and Grant Harris in childhood; and sisters, Mary Woodside; Ann Girard; and Nelly Camp.
