Charles “Barry” Hess

Charles “Barry” Hess, 62, of Mifflin Township joined his Heavenly Father on Friday, August 25, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville, surrounded by loving family.

Born on August 11, 1955 in Berwick he was the son of Olen P. and Evelyn J. (Honse) Hess of Mifflinville. He was a graduate of Central Columbia High School class of 1973. Charles worked at Harrell Sprinkler in Mifflinville for many years.

Barry was a lifelong member of Mifflinville United Methodist Church, where he was council chair, taught Sunday School, attended Bible Study, helped with upkeep, and volunteered with fundraisers, dinners and youth events. He was active with Susquehanna Valley Tres Dias, an organization that runs Christian Retreats. Barry was giving with his time, he was a handy-man who would often help others with their projects. He was a selfless man with a servant’s heart.

In addition to his parents, he will be greatly missed by his wife of 23 years, Ann R. (Ferguson) Hess; children: Adam and wife Amanda Hess, Nescopeck; Megan Hensinger, Lancaster; Amy Martin and husband Mickey, Virginia; Brad Lurowist and wife Sarah, Buckhorn; grandchildren: Lydia; Seth; Mychaela; Arianna; Christopher; Emily and Margo. He also leaves behind sisters, Opal Buffone and husband Frank “Cork”, Mifflinville; Ann Lunger and husband Roger, Bloomsburg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family will receive friends from 9:00 until 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Mifflinville United Methodist Church, 4th and Market Streets, Mifflinville, followed by a memorial service with Rev. Dr. R. Kenneth Gunter officiating.
