Eleanor C. Pennington, 83, of Nescopeck passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Chestnut Knoll Personal Care and Memory Care in Boyertown.
Born in Nescopeck on January 9, 1934 she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Edith (Paul) Keyser. Eleanor graduated from Nescopeck High School, class of 1951. She was employed at Berwick Shirt Company, and later at Wise Foods where she worked for 22 years.
Eleanor was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Nescopeck. She was on the Nescopeck High School reunion planning committee, and volunteered with the Nescopeck Fire Company fundraisers. She also assisted at the election polls.
She loved to Polka dance at any occasion where music was playing especially with her sisters. She enjoyed gardening, reading and bird watching. She treasured spending time with her family.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 63 years, Kenneth Roy Pennington; children: Diane Douglass and husband Keith, Florida; Dirk Pennington and wife Michelle, Pottstown; 4 grandchildren, Dawn, Gwen, Sarah and Brett; 1 great-grandchild, Stone; sisters, Lois McCreary and husband Robert, Bloomsburg; Marion Snyder, Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Keyser; and brother-in-law, Dale Snyder.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck, with Pastor Susan Knorr officiating. Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Elan Memorial Park in Bloomsburg.
