Joyce E. (Gensel) Baer, 92, of Nescopeck passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at her home.
Born at home in Nescopeck on October 22, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Sarah (Whitenight) Gensel. She was a graduate of Nescopeck High School, class of 1947 and prior to retiring was employed at Fulton Manufacturing in Berwick.
After graduation, she married Wayne E. ‘Tim’ Baer. Together they raised a daughter and welcomed the birth of several more generations. They were married for 69 years prior to his passing in 2016.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Nescopeck for over 60 years. She liked doing all kinds of crafts and was a member of Ye Old and New Craftsmen. She had a passion for bowling and enjoyed league bowling the Zepher and Stenko’s Bowling Allies. Joyce loved caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her loving daughter, Jowayne Walton and companion Donald Moss, Nescopeck; grandchildren, Stephen Walton and wife Theresa; Scott Walton and wife Suzanne; Bruce Walton and companion Billie Jean; cherished great grandchildren, Ashley Shappel and husband Richard; Kristen Reinhart and husband Lee IV; Nathan Walton and wife Samantha; Alex Walton; and Kyle Walton; great-great grandchildren, Addison; Reese; Lee V; Lukas; and Madelynn; sisters, Sara Bower, Berwick; Gloria Trapane, Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Evina; Jane Eddinger, Pauline White; Ardna Gensel; and brothers, Robert, and Donald Gensel.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 7, 2022, at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 E. Third St, Nescopeck. Interment will follow in Sorber Cemetery, Shickshinny. Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 6th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM and on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
