Ethel L (Eifert) Strausser, age 81, of Bloomsburg passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022, at Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital.
Born in Bloomsburg on June 7, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur J. and Nora K. (Leiby) Eifert and was raised and educated in Bloomsburg. She retired from Danville State Hospital where she worked for over 20 years.
Ethel enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, listening to Polka music, and dancing. She loved baking and would make desserts for the whole family who would come and share each Friday. She liked to visit and catch up with members of the family, always bringing her children along. She also loved dogs.
She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Leona “Liz” Parks and companion Garey Bittenbender, Bloomsburg; Richelle K Kline and husband Eric, Espy; Suzanne Parks, Collegeville; cherished grandchildren, Lorie, Cindy, Jennifer, and Megan; adored great grandson, Scott; and sister, Gloria Benza and husband Ted, Lime Ridge; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Richard Parks; and second former husband, Kenneth Strausser; sisters, Joan Shymanski; Kaye Shriver; Faye Young; Mary Jo Romig; half-sister, Erma Snyder; half-brothers, John Wilbur; Johnny Eifert; and stepbrother, Alvin Lindenmuth.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 East Third Street, Nescopeck. Interment will follow in New Rosemont Cemetery, Bloomsburg. Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
