Devania “Dee” L. Blackburn, 79, of Scott Township passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023, at Bonham Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Needmore, WV on April 23, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Gilbert J. and Beulah M. (Johnson) Phares. She was a graduate of Tunkhannock High School, class of 1961. She worked at Luzerne Outerwear until 1980 when she bought the Unicorn Restaurant where was the owner/proprietor until 2014.
Dee enjoyed cooking and baking. Her pies were well known at the Unicorn Restaurant and many people enjoyed visiting and eating her delicious meals.
She will be greatly missed by her son, Edward E. Lanning and wife Colleen, Huntington Mills; daughter, Autumn Blackburn, Bloomsburg; grandchildren, Gavin Blackburn and fiancée Alexa Smith; Clint and wife Vonda Lanning; Laura and husband Kevin Harrington; great grandchildren, Layne, Keith, and James Lanning; sister, Sharon Kozminski and husband Leonard, Mountain Top; and sister-in-law, Dora Phares, Dallas.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Dale Phares; Jerry Phares and wife Charlotte; Ronald Phares; sisters, Betty Kocher and husband Luther; Grace Cmeich and husband Johnny.
Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 7th, 2023, at Heller Funeral Home, LLC, 633 E. Third Street, Nescopeck, followed by a memorial service with Pastor Shane Prieve from Living Hope Church officiating.
