Sandra (Harman) Knecht, age 77, of Sugarloaf Township passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Hazleton.
Born in Hazleton on February 20, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Clark W. and Letha (Mensinger) Harman. She graduated from Black Creek High School in Rock Glen in 1962 and later earned a certificate in cosmetology from Empire Beauty School. She was the owner and proprietor of Sandra Knecht’s Beauty Salon for many years.
Sandra was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Mountain Grove, where she was a former member of the choir. She was a member of Lilies of the Valley Garden Club and Drums Garden Club. She greatly enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. She also liked animals and feeding the wildlife around her home. Sandra was an avid reader.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 57 years, Wilbur R. Knecht; son, Scott Knecht and wife Lisa, Nuremburg; cherished grandchildren, Zak, Justin, Shelby, Hunter, JJ, and Tori; brother-in-law, Randall Matyas; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Heather Yurick in 2012; and sister, Caroline Matyas.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mountain Grove with her pastor, Reverend Christine Kirchner officiating. Family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
