Dylan Shaye Newman, “a toast to 29 years: my cancer diagnosis didn’t break me, it’s teaching me the bittersweet, adventurous parts of life. And it’s certainly not winning, it’s fueling me with new perspectives & brighter side.” Dylan reached the brighter side, adding her special glow, Sunday May 5th, surrounded by family & dear friends.
Born March 13th, 1995, the dash between her years, even shorter than her height but it most certainly shines in glittery neon colors. In the midst of her battle, she took on her own challenge to help others by selflessly sharing her most vulnerable moments with positivity & strength. Her love for art & creating beamed through her EXO Awareness crafting business, built to share her talent & help others through donations to the For Pete’s Sake Foundation.
A 2013 graduate of Berwick High School, she graduated with an associate degree in Exercise Science from LCCC in 2016, and a Bachelors of Sociology in 2018 from Bloomsburg University. Dylan developed an early passion for photography, capturing brilliant pictures in her own works & encouraging the talents of others. Masterful in makeup artistry, an incredible sense of her own personal style she’d always be willing to step in as a most beautiful model. Her parents & grandparents’ homes are adorned with her amazing paintings. Remarkable remnants of the child, who would sit by her grandfather’s side honing her skills. Her mother’s love for cooking & baking was certainly not lost on Dylan, as she concocted some delicious dishes & decorated spectacular cakes & cookies. Dylan put her heart and soul into all that she did, including loving others.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Sherye & Barry Newman, her very best friend, Derek Masich of Berwick & her great Aunt Louise Mealing of Freeland & Uncle John Mealing of Allentown.
She remains the Sunshine of her maternal grandparents’ lives, Robert & Mary Walton of Hazleton. She will forever be her father’s sweetie pie & her mother’s baby girl, James & Lori Newman of Berwick and her brother’s big sis, Braedon Newman. She will also always be remembered by her boyfriend, Ryan Kishbaugh of Benton who faithfully stuck by her side through her entire fight. She remains in the hearts of her brother’s girlfriend, Kiersten Koonrad, nephew Braedon, bonus niece Peyton & nephew Dawson all of Berwick, her crazy auntie, Nikki Walton Stone (Randy) of Nicholson, Uncles: (Godfather) BJ Newman (Gretchen Bachinger), Marc Newman (Marcy), & Steve Newman (Valari Lockard), cousins: Ruthlyn Stone & Dakota Bedell & son Anthony, Trevor Stone & Lilly Harvey, Justin & Nikki Newman & son Ryder, Genevieve Newman, Lucianna Newman, Austin & Amylyn Newman & children Asher & Mira, Sawyer Newman, & her Aunt/Godmother Lisa Newman & Aunt Diane Newman, and Best Friends Kaitlyn Yohey & Rachael Leiby. Her impact touched so many old friends & new, extended family, & passersby. She will be remembered in every sunrise & sunset, the star’s shine & the fluttering colorful wings of each butterfly.
All family & friends are welcome to attend A Celebration of Dylan’s Beautiful Life which will be held on Sunday, May 19th at 2PM at Hog’s Hollow, SR 93, Berwick, PA.
